Four new destinations in Peerage of Science

BioMedCentral, the world's first commercial open access publisher, is expanding collaboration with Peerage of Science, an innovative independent submission and peer review service.

Four more journals join the list of four previously listed BioMed Central destinations, becoming available for authors directly inside the Peerage of Science peer review system. Furthermore, the editors also gain full access to all ongoing peer review processes, and are able to pro-actively invite submissions of suitable uncommitted manuscripts; in Peerage of Science a manuscript is not exclusive to any single journal until authors choose to commit it to one destination, which typically happens after the peer review.

Dr. Janne-Tuomas Seppänen, Founder and Managing Director at Peerage of Science, is excited to see the four new destinations in The Select-menu:

"Our Peer community has frequently expressed wishes to see a destination for genetic research in The Select, so participation of two respected journals BMC Genetics and BMC Genomics is a great answer to that need. Likewise, while we already collaborate with journals in general ecology and biology and conservation, there hasn't been a Select-destination specializing in botanical research, until now, as BMC Plant Biology comes on board. And with BMC Zoology, I am especially thrilled to start collaboration with a journal right from its birthday – I think the editorial opportunities Peerage of Science provides can be especially fruitful for a new journal beginning to cultivate its scope and recognition."

Diana Marshall, Senior Managing Editor of BMC series at BioMed Central said:

"Building on our already successful relationship with Peerage of Science, we have signed up four additional journals: BMC Genetics, BMC Genomics, BMC Plant Biology and the soon to be launched BMC Zoology. We are excited to work with initiatives like this, which maintain rigorous standards whilst improving the efficiency of the peer review process for authors, reviewers and editors."

"Knowing that manuscripts are reviewed thoroughly by trusted peers is important for us. Our editors' experience with Peerage of Science has been excellent, and many of them are already Peer members of the community."

About Peerage of Science:

Peerage of Science is an independent scientific submission and peer review service, introducing several innovative practices to the academic publishing process. Among the core solutions are Open Engagement of peer reviewers by their own choice, Cross-Evaluation of peer reviews by other peers, and Concurrent Consideration of a single peer review process by participating journals.

Peerage of Science is free for scientists, and offers compelling new solutions to academic publishers and other organizations that need high-quality peer review for their operations. The Select -service allowing editorial access into the system currently includes 37 journal destinations, while The Connect -service allows authors to export their work exclusively to over 3000 destinations. Peerage of Science is supported by University of Jyväskylä, University of Eastern Finland, and University of Turku.
