BMC Psychology is calling for submissions to our Collection on Artificial Intelligence in Psychological Research and Care.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is trained to recognize emotions, understand human feelings, and analyze neuropsychological functions, which in turn accelerates research in all areas of psychology. As it is becoming more available for scholars, AI is becoming increasingly crucial for psychologists, therapists, and counselors to understand the existing capacity and future potential for the technology to transform psychology research and mental healthcare.

Linda Antonucci: University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy

Dr. Linda Antonucci is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. She is interested in applying multimodal machine learning techniques using neurobiological, cognitive, behavioral, and clinical information to identify risk and protective factors for mental health in sensitive neurodevelopmental periods in order to refine individualized early identification and intervention strategies. She serves as an Editorial Board Member of BMC Psychology.

Hirokazu Doi: Nagaoka University of Technology, Japan

Dr. Hirokazu Doi is an Associate Professor in Information and Management Engineering at Nagaoka University of Technology and a specially appointed Associate Professor in the Data Science and AI Innovation Research Promotion Center at Shiga University. His research activities include investigation into cognitive-neuroscientific mechanism of human behaviors and the biological basis of its diversity by interdisciplinary approach integrating brain function measurement and endocrinological measurement. Dr. Doi is currently working on the development of assistive-technologies such as learning assistance system and supplementary diagnosis/screening system of neurodevelopmental conditions. He serves as an Editorial Board Member of BMC Psychology.

As it is becoming more available for scholars, AI is becoming increasingly crucial for psychologists, therapists, and counselors to understand the existing capacity and future potential for the technology to transform psychology research and mental healthcare.

We invite submissions related to all aspects of the use of AI in psychological research and mental healthcare, which includes but is not limited to supplementary diagnosis of psychiatric conditions, face and posture recognition, optical sensing, vocal analysis and other ways to answer the question: How can AI help in psychological research and mental health care?
