Microbiome research

Microorganisms can be found across all environments as well as in our body, where they take an essential part in the regulation of the organism and host responses, including immunity, hormonal effects and metabolism. In the last decade, a growing body of scientific interest has linked nutrition and the environment to the microbiota and indeed, it is evident how this plays a pivotal role to overall health. Here, we selected a list of interesting scientific papers describing distinct aspects of the microbiome, with an emphasis on the microbiomes of built environments.
