Dr Awua is a multidisciplinary trained Public Health Scientist at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, with qualifications in Biochemistry, Public Health, and Bioethics, and in-depth knowledge of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Epidemiology, Research Methods, Research and Public Health Ethics. Dr Awua has successfully applied these to research in the areas of the isolation and molecular characterization of fungi (Aspergillus spp.), bacteria (Mycobacteria) and virus (Human Papillomavirus), as well as to research on Cervical Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention, and Health Resource Rationing, He is also a member of faculty at the University of Ghana, and has also collaborated with colleagues in Nutrition, Environmental Science, Medical Physics, and Nuclear Science Research.
Ambreen Sayani, MD, PhD, Women’s College Hospital, Canada
Dr Ambreen Sayani, MD, PhD is a Scientist at the Women’s College Research Institute, Women’s College Hospital and an Assistant Professor (status) at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She is Principal Investigator for the Improving Cancer Care Equity (ICCE) Research Program that aims to improve cancer outcomes for all populations groups by promoting equitable cancer prevention, early detection and access to high quality care. She is a Health Equity Expert Advisor for the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC), a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Canadian Cancer Survivor Network (CCSN), co-founder of Equity Mobilizing Partnerships in Community (EMPaCT).
