BMC Nursing is calling for submissions to our Collection: Nursing Education. This Collection will explore the evolving landscape of nursing education while addressing innovative approaches, curriculum development, and the impact of nursing education on patient outcomes. The aim of this Collection is to inform evidence-based strategies to prepare the next generation of nurses for the complexities of modern healthcare delivery.

Sadeq Al-Fayyadh, PhD, University of Baghdad, Iraq

Dr Al-Fayyadh is devoted to renovate the nursing education sector both locally and globally by re-envisioning the educational arena to be open to both traditional & non-traditional ways of instruction to create a meaningful learning experience.  He strongly believes in the following tenet: “Seeking education from the cradle to the grave.” He is committed to honor the higher education organizations & the society’s social contract by fulfilling the ultimate level of quality work required to fuel the principled journey of making a meaningful difference in all economic, social, political, educational, and most importantly the health-related aspects of society life’s prosperity.

Hsiao-Yun Chang, PhD, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan

Dr Chang currently works as a Professor in the Department of Nursing, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan.  Some of the significant research she has done include the importance of communication on patients’ use of complementary medicine and the mobile technology to facilitate this communication. Her areas of research interests include nursing education, complementary medicine in diabetes and innovative development.

Dana Tschannen, PhD, RN, University of Michigan School of Nursing, USA

Dana Tschannen, PhD, RN is the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Clinical Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Her research program aims to advance the science of quality and safety in healthcare by engaging nurses in quality improvement (QI) and evidence-based practice (EBP) to improve knowledge acquisition and evidence-based practice adoption.  Dr Tschannen’s unique expertise in EBP and QI methodologies has positively influenced the interprofessional team's understanding and adoption of evidence-based strategies.  She has expertise in teaching and learning, with a record of successful dissemination of several studies that utilized innovative teaching strategies to engage learners and improve learning outcomes. Her extensive experience in academic leadership, which has spanned pre-licensure and graduate-level programming, has provided her with a breadth of knowledge and expertise in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. 

About the Collection

BMC Nursing is calling for submissions to our Collection: Nursing Education.

Nursing education plays a pivotal role in shaping the competencies and skills of future healthcare professionals. This Collection will explore novel teaching methods, the impact of nursing education on patient outcomes, the integration of competency-based learning in nursing education, the experiences of nursing students, and the evolving role of nurse educators in preparing the next generation of nurses.

The advancement of nursing education is crucial to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. Recent findings in this area have emphasized the importance of interprofessional education, simulation-based learning, and the incorporation of evidence-based practice into nursing curricula. Additionally, research has highlighted the significance of mentorship and clinical placements in shaping the professional development of nursing students.

Looking ahead, continued research in this area holds the potential for developing tailored educational interventions that address the evolving healthcare landscape, including the integration of telehealth and telemedicine into nursing education and clinical practice. Furthermore, the identification of effective strategies for promoting diversity and inclusivity in nursing education is necessary for the development of a skilled and culturally competent nursing workforce worldwide.

We invite contributions that examine a wide range of topics relating to the nursing education, including but not limited to:

The Editors have no competing interests with the submissions which they handle through the peer review process. The peer review of any submissions for which the Editors have competing interests is handled by another Editorial Board Member who has no competing interests.
