Submission Status: Open   |   Submission Deadline: 30 July 2024

BMC Rheumatology is calling for submissions to our Collection on 'Updates on the management of osteoarthritis'.

This collection aims to explore and promote the latest developments in osteoarthritis management, with a focus on improvements in early diagnosis and prevention, new and/or improved treatments, professional healthcare-patient interactions, and self-management. Osteoarthritis is a disorder involving movable joints characterized by cell stress and extracellular matrix degradation initiated by micro- and macro-injury that activates maladaptive repair responses including pro-inflammatory pathways of innate immunity. The disease manifests first as a molecular derangement followed by anatomic, and/or physiologic derangements, that can culminate in illness. In 2019, about 528 million people worldwide were living with osteoarthritis.
